FESTIVALS AND CONFERENCES

Heather Spears attends conferences and literary festivals both as participant and as artist-in-residence, drawing those in performance and exhibiting the drawings immediately in temporary matts. The signed drawings are for sale, and are also available for publication in news reports and proceedings, as book covers, etc. Authors drawn include Seamus Heaney, Iris Murdoch, Margaret Atwood, Martin Amis, Salmon Rushdie and many others.

Venues include: 4 UN conferences (New York, Vienna, Geneva); Harbourfront, Toronto; Vancouver Writers' Festival, numerous Canadian writers' annual meetings; literary conferences in Scandinavia, Ireland and England; Nordic Association for Canadian Studies Triennials, Lund 1987, Oslo 1990 & Finland 1993, & Stockholm 2002.

Artist in Residence: Guildford Literary Festival, 1992, Cheltenham Literary Festival 1992, 1993, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003; Worldcon Winnipeg 1994 and Glasgow 1995; Hay-on-Wye Literary Festival 1997, Mantua Festivaletteratura 1997, 1998.
